[African American] [LGBTQ] Beck, Robert (Aka Iceberg Slim) Mama Black Widow and The Naked Soul of Iceberg Slim. Los Angeles: Holloway House Publishing Co., 1969 and 1971. First Edition Paperbacks. Both are about 300 pages. Both measures 4.25" x 7". Iceberg Slim was an American former pimp who later became a writer. In 1961, after serving 10 months of solitary confinement in a Cook County jail, Maupin decided he was too old for a life of pimping at the age of 42 and moved to Los Angeles to become a writer. Beck wrote several more novels, an autobiography, and a story collection. He sold over six million books before his death in 1992, making him one of the best-selling African-American writers.
