Schuyler's very scarce first novel, a satire in which a black scientist discovers a serum which changes black skin to white, causing a situation where "Black America with fearful swiftness merges into white America.. And in the resulting confusion three black adventurers lead startling, romantic, picaresque careers." ix, [1], 250pp. Missing jacket (plot summary text from jacket flap glued to front end page). Gray cloth boards, black stamped titling on front board and back-strip. Binding is sturdy and fully intact; text is very good throughout; foxing to end pages and page block edges. Board edges show light shelfwear, corners gently bumped; somewhat faint damp-stain apparent on back board, staining not apparent on inside fly-leaf; title text rubbed but fully readable on front board and back strip.
