Description:
New York: E. P. Dutton & Company, 1922. First US Edition . Hardcover. Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, red cloth boards with guilt text on front and spine. Exterior shows spotting and soiling along with edge and corner bumps/wear, gilt on spine is darkened. The internal binding is good with no hinge issues at boards but there is pulling at page 102 which shows a thin line of webbing. Pages are toned due to age and foxing and spotting is present, with the end pages and pastedowns being the heaviest. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings. The only handwriting found in the book is an old store price penned in the corner of the front end page. There is also some faint staining along the top edge of the last 20-30 pages in the rear pastedown shows a diagonal crease from where the rear board was stressed. This is the first American edition published in 1922.
