[DISNEY MEMORABILIA; ZIP-A-DEE-DOO-DAH ORIGINAL ADAPTATION, PAUL BARON; BUDDY CLARK, SINGER; HILDEGARDE CAMPBELL ROOM RADIO PROGRAM] ZIP-A-DEE-DOO-DAH adapted by Paul Baron with notes "Campbell" (for Hildegarde radio program "The Campbell Room") and Buddy Clark (popular singer of the 1940s) at top of first page, original adaptation in pencil with "Baron" signed in upper right corner of the first long page version of music composition pages with typescript "PAUL BARON at the bottom of each page, 13 pages total, 19" x 11, blue ink stamp "ZIPA [sic] DEE DOO DAH" at top left of first page over title handwritten in pencil, adaptation for radio orchestra instruments, WITH copyist scores for 5-page "conductor" score and 20 2-page individual radio orchestra instruments scores, some with limited annotations including "segue to Nice to Be Nice" at the end of many ("Nice to Be Nice" was another popular song of the era), on the first page of the 5-page conductor copyist score in red ink is "Clark" indicating where Buddy Clark begins singing with related notes in red ink inserted into the score for four pages ///// NOTES: CAMPBELL ROOM: one of the popular performer Hildegarde's (1906-2005) radio programs of the 1940s, others were the "Radio Room" and "Raleigh Room"…from the 1930s to 1950s, Hildegarde was one of the most popular nightclub and radio performers in the U.S. and Europe…aspects of her performances, persona, and promotion such as the use of one name influenced performers in following periods such as Liberace and Madonna; PAUL BARON: 1910-1985, radio orchestra and swing band leader who worked with Hildegarde in the 1940s on her popular radio programs, including the Campbell Room; BUDDY CLARK: 1912-49, American popular singer of the Big Band era whose career blossomed in the late 1940s after he returned from service in WWII…one of the nation's top crooners…died in a plane crash in 1949; ZIP-A-DEE-DOO-DAH: song composed by Allie Wrubel, lyrics by Ray Gilbert for the 1946 Disney movie Song of the South…sung byJames Basket…won Academy Award for Best Original Song…today the song is shirked by many for its connotations of portrayals of African Americans in 19th-century minstrel shows and association with the 19th-century song "Zip Coon" (wikipedia) ///// CONDITION: well-preserved, minimal wear from limited handling and keeping in heavy manila folder keywords: Walt Disney movie, popular culture, music score, Black memorabilia
