The price-clipped jacket is quite edgeworn, with fraying to top edge, but all the cover lettering and illustration are clear. There is a one inch inverted V chip at the bottom of the spine, that just clips the left side of the S in Scribners, a small chip at spine top, and a hole 1/4 inch diameter in centre of back spine fold. Nonetheless, all lettering is again clear and legible. Overall, this remains a presentable copy. Without the " A ". No indication of reprinting..

Dust jacket has points of wear at extremities, and a slightly mottled spine, but is very attractive indeed, and has done a great job of keeping the cover and spine illustration delightfully bright. Scarce thus..

Parker accompanied the American Fur Company's exploring party of 1835 from Council Bluffs to Walla Walla. The map is the earliest reliable representation of the Oregon interior. Blind embossed dark brown cloth with gilt spine titles. Two small blemishes along the spine cloth, minor age darkening to pastedowns, else very good, pages bright, no foxing, binding strong and tight, map near fine. . Hard. Adina De Zavala led the opposition to tearing down portions of the Alamo "in a resolute and voluble stand" and was instrumental in the preservation of portions of the original wall of the convent. In fact, she barricaded herself inside the north barrack of the Alamo for three days in February 1908 to protest its destruction. In 1912 she organized the Texas Historical and Landmarks Association, which placed thirty-eight markers at historic sites in Texas. She probably did more than any other one person in stirring interest in the preservation of the Spanish Governor's Palace in San Antonio. – Handbook of Texas. Original newspaper, dated Honolulu, November 1, 1879. Illustrated with decorated masthead. 4to. (9½ by 12½ inches). Original self cover, 8 pages. 19th century newspaper from Hawaii that bills itself as "The Oldest Paper in The Pacific." This newspaper was printed by the missionary community in the Sandwich Islands, as the future state was then called, while the kingdom was still governed by its native Kings and Queens. Its content chronicles their progress and includes much general news of the island and its people, the South Seas and the sailors that frequented the islands and that part of the globe. There are also U.S. news items, some of them months old, and some interesting advertisements on the last pages. Complete, with large margins, uncut and untrimmed, attached at the top. Small ¼-inch tear at the top, in the blank margin, and several "micro-pinholes," o/w in pristine condition. Fine. Rare.
