First published in 1784, Sylvain Marechal's 'Civil Costumes' was an impressive and important work on the cultures of people groups from all over the world. It has 73 full-page, hand-colored engravings depicting clothing and costumes from Western cultures, African and Native American tribes, Pacific Islanders, and from all over the rest of the known world. These incredible illustrations were engraved by Grasset de Saint-Sauveur.
This third volume from the 1788 edition covers the clothing, cultures, and religion of the inhabitants of Arabia, Kyrgyzstan, Serbia, Java and Indonesia, Tibet, Eastern Slavic regions, Persia, and Armenia. The illustrations depict both men in women in formal dress including the upper bourgeoisie, Sultans, warriors, and even children.

Mehmed II was a 15th-century Ottoman sultan better known as Mehmed the Conqueror. Mehmed II was known for his defeats of crusaders as well as his conquest of Constantinople. These wars, along with many others, are covered in Georges Guillet's "History of the Reign of Mehmed II". This volume from Guillet's 1689 edition covers Mehmed's career through 1462 and the Siege of Wallachia.

1663 ENGLISH History of Ottoman TURKS Empire Sultans Ahmed II Mehmed IV Moore

Andrew Moore's "Compendious History of the Turks" is a rare, 17th-century history of the Ottoman Empire through the mid-1600s. Moore, an English historian, based much of this work on Richard Knolles' "Generall Historie of the Turkes" in which the kings of the Ottoman Empire of described in detail. This particular tome contains descriptions of kings including Mehmet III, Ahmed I, Mustafa I, Osman II, and Ahmed II. Curiously, Moore refers to the Ottoman's in this work as a "barbarous nation, the world's present terror" in hopes of exposing kingdom warring against the Habsburgs in the mid-17th-century.

Bleunard and published by Gebbie & Co., Publishers in Philadelphia in 1889. It is illustrated by Montader and is in English. It measures approximately 9.5 inches long by 7 inches wide. The book is in good condition. The binding is tight and the book is complete with no loose pages. The covers and edges do have some wear. The pages do have foxing, but are clean and free of writing, except for a number 7 written on the title page before the title page. Volume one (82 pages) authored by Professor Kalayan of the American University of Beirut; volume two (86 pages) by architect Jacques Liger-Belair.
