1670 Huguenot Peter Moulin Charles I Execution Parerga John Milton Salmasius

'Parerga' is a 17th-century collection of Latin poems by French Huguenot pastor Peter du Moulin. This book consists of some of his most important works including his important work on the conflict between Charles I of England and the British Parliament. In 'Charles I, King & Martyr', Moulin described the infamous events in the trial of Charles I which lead to the execution of the King of England.

He also published a book entitled 'Regii Sanguinis' in which he defends the controversial work of Salmasius and in-turn attacks John Milton and his views. These, along with other poems and commentaries, were published by John Hayes in 1670 Cambridge.

Description:
1756 History of Masaniello Revolt in NAPLES Giraffi Dutch Habsburg Spain English

An exceedingly rare, mid-17th-century book on the history of the Dutch Revolt against the Spanish Hapsburgs in Naples in 1647. This book, written by an unnamed Alessandro Giraffi, was an immensely popular book in the Netherlands following the oppression during the Thirty Years War. This first-hand account of the revolt follows the story of Masaniello, a local Italian fisherman, who led a revolt which ransacked armories and prisons in Naples – a historical event that has been retold, painted, and argued for centuries. Masaniello was described as,
"...a young man of twenty-seven, beautiful and graceful in appearance, his face was brown and somewhat burned by the sun: black eyes, blond hair, with locks that ran down his neck." (St. John., 68)

This 1756 English edition was edited by Francis Midon and features a full-page

First printed edition of these minutes by the Foreign Ministry of France in 1897-1898 on Bahr Al-Ghazal, Lake Chad, and the Upper Nile regions. The tensions between French and British relations were high in the 1875-1898 era. especially over Egyptian and African issues. At several points, these issues brought the two nations to the brink of war; but the situation was always defused diplomatically. For two decades, there was peace-but it was "an armed peace, characterized by alarms, distrust, rancor, and irritation." During the Scramble for Africa in the 1880s, the British and French generally recognized each other's spheres of influence. This survey of the changing styles in European silver dates from the early Renaissance, with its roots in the late Gothic, up to the products of Industrial Revolution. The subject is treated internationally and presents a more comprehensive history of the goldsmiths' and silversmiths' art of this period than has hitherto been available. The book is published in two volumes. Volume I comprises the text (which has one hundred and forty margin illustrations to indicate influences and changes in both shape and ornamentation). Volume II contains over a thousand photographs fully illustrating the text.
