About This Item
Geoffrey Bles, 1953. First edition, first printing. 8vo. Blue boards with silver titles. Pictorial dustwrapper by Pauline Baynes. A near fine copy with very light wear. Internally clean with no inscriptions. Small old retailers ink stamp to rear endpaper. No marks to textblock edges. Very crisp and fresh. The priceclipped dustwrapper has benefitted from archival restoration to the head and tail of spine & to a tear at bottom half of front panel. Original dustwrapper now presents as clean and fresh. The fourth Narnia novel & generally recognised as the scarcest in first edition. Eustace and Jill escape the bullies at school through the strange door in the wall - it leads to an open moor in Narnia. Aslan has a task for the children and it ultimately leads them to confronting the Evil Witch if they are to save Prince Rillian.
Synopsis
The Silver Chair finds King Caspian as grown man, and quite sad as it has been ten years since his son, Prince Rilian, has disappeared. Traveling through the wild lands of Narnia, Jill and Eustace must proceed on a perilous quest to find the Prince! On their way they find a marsh-wiggle, a race of giants, and a wicked Green Lady who has a plot to take Narnia under her control!
