Methuen & Co. Ltd, 1922. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 1922 true first edition, first impression (scarce) hardback in good condition. Name and date (1922) on inside cover of previous owner, F G H Clayton (the Northumberland and Harrow cricketer). Just a hint of foxing to page edges. Otherwise unmarked, clean pages. The front hinge is a little loose; binding is otherwise fine. The green cloth boards have a few slight marks to rear and some general shelf wear, but no major flaw. Now in a protective sleeve. New York: E. P. Dutton & Company, 1922. First US Edition . Hardcover. Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, red cloth boards with guilt text on front and spine. Exterior shows spotting and soiling along with edge and corner bumps/wear, gilt on spine is darkened. The internal binding is good with no hinge issues at boards but there is pulling at page 102 which shows a thin line of webbing. Pages are toned due to age and foxing and spotting is present, with the end pages and pastedowns being the heaviest. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings. The only handwriting found in the book is an old store price penned in the corner of the front end page. There is also some faint staining along the top edge of the last 20-30 pages in the rear pastedown shows a diagonal crease from where the rear board was stressed. This is the first American edition published in 1922.

Cloth faded and spine darkened to brown. 3cm piece missing from top right hand side of spine. Some mild spotting throughout and binding a bit shaky but complete. A fair reading copy of this scarce first edition.
