In the rare dust wrapper which is un-priced (as this copy was sourced from the British Commonwealth thus being an "export" copy. The D/W is identical to that originally issued in the UK apart from the price of 7/6 net to the spine. The D/W has benefitted from some highly skilled archival restoration by a skilled paper conservator including replacement of the publisher's name (THE BODLEY HEAD) at the base of the spine. Light rubbing to the cloth at the edges with a couple of faint spots to the front board. Red top stain. Purple bookseller's stamp to the rear endpaper. Book clean throughout, in a tight binding, only very lightly cocked. In the rare second issue dust jacket which has the price 3/6 on the spine, several large chips to the bottom edges, shallow chipping to the head of the spine, one large piece missing at the spine foot about 2 inches in size and a large tear along the front flap fold.
