Description:
*** NICE ASSOCIATION COPY ***DO ANDROIDS DREAM OF ELECTRIC SHEEP, Doubleday, 1968, first edition, tiny hole from fastener to the upper margin of the first 3 leaves, else just about fine in vg+/near fine dust-wrapper with some slight wear. Publishers complimentary card laid in with the signature of the Doubleday science fiction editor of this very title, as well as virtually all of the Doubleday science fiction titles during this period, Larry Ashmead. Formerly, the copy of esteemed fellow science fiction writer and critic Brian Aldiss with his ownership signature on the f.e.p. Nice association thus. The source book for one of the greatest science fiction films, Ridley Scott's BLADERUNNER. Quite scarce. AND WITH THIS PROVENANCE, quite desirable.

Description:
London: Rapp and Whiting, 1968. A first edition, first printing published by Rapp and Whiting in 1968. A very good book with spotting to the endpapers and to the page edges. Small amount of residue to the spine. With the scarce Lawrence Edwards-designed dust wrapper without any of the heavy fading to the spine. Edges lightly rubbed and a little nicked in places. Filmed notably in 1982, with Ridley Scott as director and Harrison Ford as the lead character, Rick Deckard. Both the novel and the film explore themes such as what it means to be human, the nature of consciousness, and the ethics of creating and controlling intelligent beings. However, the plot and characters differ significantly between the two, with the film focusing more on action and visual spectacle, and the novel delving deeper into the psychological and emotional aspects of the story.

London, Rapp & Whiting, 1969. . First UK edition; 8vo; previous ownership inscription to front free endpaper, minor offsetting to endpapers, else unmarked internally; publisher's green cloth, silver lettering to spine, with the pictorial dustjacket, price-clipped, slight rubbing to extremities; a very good copy. First edition of perhaps Philip K. Dick's best-known work, thanks in part to the 1982 film adaptation, Blade Runner, directed by Ridley Scott. The film sparked a flurry of reprints of Dick's novels, with the present title becoming a bestseller despite the film being wildly different to the book, which Ridley Scott famously told Dick he couldn't finish.
