Description:
New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1998. First Editions. Attractive set of McCarthy's critically acclaimed Border Trilogy - his first encounter with mainstream success after writing five novels between 1965-1985. Beginning with the publication of All the Pretty Horses, for the first time in McCarthy's career, his publisher poured a considerable amount of money into marketing the novel, with pre-publication copies in five formats (including an attractive signed advance in a folding case) produced and widely-circulated. Few signings events were done for the novel, after which McCarthy, publicity shy and committed to a private life, would seldom do public events or book signings, opting to sign sheets to be tipped-in to subsequent books. All the Pretty Horses won both the National Book Award and National Book Critics Circle Award in 1992, and served as the basis for Billy Bob Thorton's 2000 adaptation starring Matt Damon and Penelope Cruz. First Printings, with The Crossing and Cities of the Plain each being… Read More

Description:
New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1992. First edition and first printings. Harcovers. McCarthy's acclaimed trilogy of novels. All three books in near fine condition or better and in very near fine dust jacket. "All The Pretty Horses" is signed by McCarthy on the half title page and includes a handwritten note from Gary Fisketjon presenting it to a publisher representative. "The Crossing" and "Cities of the Plain" are both signed by McCarthy on tipped in pages done by the publisher. Signed sets are uncommon as McCarthy while not being a recluse didn't do public events or readings for the majority of his later years. A lovely set obtained directly from a publisher representative.

Alfred A. Knopf. New York.,1992-98. FIRST EDITIONS. 1st impressions. Three Volumes. 8vo. (8.6 x 6.1 inches). Fine, bright copies in the publishers fine original dustwrappers, designed by Chip Kidd. A fine set of true first editons of this hugely popular trilogy. There is some confusion about a probable trial issue dustwrapper for the first title, with no advance praise notices on the lower panel and lacking the blue capital letter 'A' at the start of the blurb inside the front flap. This wrapper was not officially issued with the published book. The first edition wrapper, as issued on day of publication, has the price of $21.00 on the inner front flap and the number code '5/92' at the bottom of the inner rear flap. The wrapper on All the Pretty horses in this set has both of these points.
