The first edition of the author's first novel, the first in a trilogy that was not completed until 2012. The book was popular and critically well-received upon its publication, though the author himself came to look less favourably on it as time went on; many authors of children's fantasy fiction today consider The Weirdstone of Brisingamen one of the key works in the genre. Rare in the original dust-jacket.

he First UK printing of the special 50th Anniversary Edition published by Harper Collins Children's Books in 2010. The BOOK is in near Fine condition. The slightest of pushing at the spine ends with very light toning of the text block. The book has been inscribed and signed by the author to the front blank end paper; 'For Brenda, from Alan'. Additionally signed without dedication by the author to the first page of the introduction. The dedicatee (Brenda) is a family relative of the author and has been the sole owner to date.
